UrBAN is an artist-led public arts project, developed and managed by Brighton Artists Network members.
It was set up in response to the lack of opportunities for artists to show and make work while arts venues remain closed to the public, and aims to develop and test a model for artist-led public art commissioning in the city.
In between November 2020 and April 2021, a group of 30+ artists of all disciplines met fortnightly to support one another to take their practice into public spaces. The aim was to keep each other creative and motivated, create a fun, supportive environment for us to come together and give ourselves something to look forward to in the warmer months.
Participating artists developed a series of projects taking place in public spaces around Brighton in between March and May 2021.
Brighton Artists Network
Let’s build something together.
Brighton Artists Network is Brighton’s first interdisciplinary artist-led project.
Our 400+ members include visual artists, writers, musicians, theatre-makers, dancers, sound artists and performers of all disciplines.
Key to our mission is to engage our members in developing practical solutions to the issues they face.
